I applied for an loan online. You have to tick the box "agree to terms and conditions" when you apply for the loan. On reading the conditions, they are LOAN terms and conditions, NOT APPLICATION terms and conditions. When they talk about a handling fee for the application it is implied that this is only applied if the loan is granted due to the heading. SUPRISE!!! The loan is declined, due to affordability and the next thing R 99.99 is deducted from my bank account. This you only discover days later because - VERY Clever - all sms' for debits on your bank account are for R100 and above. On contacting them and complaining about this, I was informed that it was in their terms and conditions and it was clear that the R 99.99 would be deducted for handling costs. This is not apparent from the way the terms and conditions are written and is totally unacceptable. IF NO SERVICE IS SUPPLIED - WHAT ARE THEY CHARGING FOR? Are we obliged to pay their overheads???
