Complaint / review text:
I currently have a loan with Beneficial. Approximately 3 or 4 years ago I was unable to make one payment and asked to skip that payment (which was deducted from my checking account). I was told that I would need to come in to resume the payment as scheduled (which I did). When I went in to set the payment back up, I was told that I need to pay the skipped payment because Beneficial did not allow skipping of payments (I was not told this in the beginning). I was not able to make that payment and that made my account past due.
I made all payments except in person until about two years ago when I was allowed to set up the deductions from my bank account again (all the while with a past due amount).in February I changed to another bank and had to stop my deduction until I could set up a new account. I did not skip a payment but merely set up a new bank account. When I tried to reestablish payment Beneficial has refused to do so and has now demanded $712 payment to re-establish my bank account deductions. (those deductions were $188 and have been on going for the past 2 to 3 years or maybe longer).
I have contacted the AG Office of WV and filed a written and verbal complaint. What is up with these people? Can we not do anything to stop them? Can we go to some national news station and have an investigation done on their practices? I can't really afford an attorney, but may have to sacrifice to do so. I am considering changing my telephone number as I have asked them to stop calling (in a 3=day period in February I received 15 calls). After I told Beneficial that I had contacted the AG. They hung up on me two times and then the calls stopped until the 14th of March and are increasing as we speak.
My cell number and work number are my only means of contact. If I lose my job or have changed my cell number because of these calls, this will very stressful. I simply want to set up arrangements to pay and stop the calls. Please help me!
