Me and my girlfriend have been renting an apartment from Bergentasg Properties for 7 months and we have paid a deposit of R7000. When we moved in we informed them that there where holes in the walls from previous tenants also cracks from the usual ware and tare. We requested that the unit needs to be repainted more than twice which in the end never happened. After our 7 months in this unit we moved out I received a email stating that there will be deductions from our deposit to repaint the unit. We required an explanation for this and did not accept the amount they have deducted from our deposit. The next day they paid the unsettled amount into our account ignoring our emails. There where holes in the wall which I fixed myself and repainted with paint they supplied to me.
They charged me for paint which they have plenty of in the storage room under the unit, also a call out fee for a painter which is a because they have a fully employed worker (Surjent) on the property that does the repairs from time to time and they also charged me an hourly rate for the person who painted the wall which I know will never reach the worker (Surjent).
