I was taking my kids to school this morning when I heard a loud pop under the hood of my 2000 V-10 Ford Excursion. I could tell that I had lost compression because there was an immediate loss of power. I pulled over and opened the hood. I could hear that the farthest back passenger side sparkplug had been blown out. I had heard of this problem with the Ford V-10 but I had not had an issue with mine until now, at 75,000 miles. I took the Excursion to the local Ford dealer and they told me it would be $3,750 and 4 days for them to replace the head!!! This is at Christmastime when my wife and four kids are looking forward to a happy holiday season. Now I can tell them that because of a known manufacturing flaw, their Christmas is now under the hood of my Excursion. Ford needs to step up to the plate on this one. This is ridiculous!!! I have always been a Ford man but now I feel betrayed by a brand that I was so loyal to for many, many years. Hope the Ford executives have a Merry Christmas. Ours is shot!!!
