Complaint / review text:
I sent a vintage Marantz Stereo Receiver to Stereo Surgeons in East Hartford Ct for repair. The receipt of the receiver was confirmed by UPS. When I heard nothing from the company, I contacted the owner, Kenneth Bernacky. He had multiple excuses for why it was taking so long to repair the unit. I contacted him on multiple occasions and the excuses continued. After waiting more than a year, I asked him to return the receiver.
He became agitated and stated that I would have to pay for the return shipping. When I reminded him that he had had the receiver for over a year and suggested that he pay at least part of the return shipping, he became extremely irate and abusive. His language was crude to say the least. He then hung up. I called him later and told him that I would pay the return shipping. He remained abusive but did say he would return the unit. He did not.
I have talked to him on several other occasions and although he states he will return the unit, he has not. I have written to him and sent emails, and he does not respond. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and they indicated that he did not respond to their inquiry.
The stereo receiver is part of a complete vintage system and the remaining components cannot be used without the receiver. I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!
