Complaint / review text:
When contacting about their teacher education, I spoke to one adviser and he told me that with their program I would become a teacher and it would take only one year depending on my transcript. So I asked if there is student teaching at the end and was told I would be a teacher in a year. Once they got my transcript it took them over three months to fully go over them. Then was told it would take less then a year 9 months.in this time frame I was assigned another adviser. Oh the first one was very hard to contact. And the second adviser was the same thing. Both said I would not have a problem becoming a teacher. The next adviser Elliott talked circles around me too. I also had problems with financial aid too, was told it was one thing and then it was another amount.
Anyway, when I got to asking more questions and asked when do we start taking the praxis test and when do we start talking about student teaching I was passed to 5 people. It took a week to finally get somewhat of a answer. This was from the career office and was told that I would have to find a school after I finished at Ashford to do the student teaching, "we don't offer it." I said "but I was told you did!" He said "the school we use to use stop let us use it a few months ago." I asked why wasn't student told this. He stated "oh they tell you before you start." They never told me or the other students in the program.
Once I found out I told Elliott I will no longer be a student at the school. I was lied to and I want a refund. I called around to different universities and I was told I would have to start over again and Ashford classes I cannot use at all. I lodged a complaint with the university. And was told I would be contacted in thirty days and it never happened. Called them and got no answer. Now they are trying to get money from me. They called me after 5 months of leaving and Threaten me I better pay more money to them. That same day they sent a email saying your second notice. Three months later final notice and saying I better pay in ten days. I didn't receive the education I was promised, was lied to. And got the runaround about everything. This was and is a major ripoff.
