Complaint / review text:
I'm an LVN with a very busy schedule, and I was planning on getting my RN.in 2007, I found College Network School online. The next thing a guy consultant called and made an appointment to come to my house. When he came, he told me it's an online class but they have all kinds of resources around to help students through this LVN - RN/BSN program such as study board online, a lot of college network students around me, textbooks, study guide, etc. Of course I was happy that finally I could get my RN done out of my very busy schedule. I've taken online class before so it wasn't a big thing to me until now.
The consultant reviewed my transcript and told me what my fees were going to be. He collected a check of about $200 as one time fee, which I don't know of up til now. I then asked what if for some reason I am not able to move on or if I wanted to cancel. The guy said yes I could. I also asked that if I take classes from community college, could i get credited for it? He said yes and I just have to call the school and tell them. We went through the loan thing which was about $8000.
About 3 months later I decided to start the program after I've gotten my books. I wanted to start with statistics because I'm good at math. The text book was so complicated, too short and practice question was terrible. At this point, I took the English textbook thinking maybe it will be better. Believe me, it's just as complicated as the first one. Now I decided to call the school to ask how I could log in into study board online and get the list of students around me. The representative told me they don't have a study board and that they don't have any student around me yet. OMG! I told her what the student consultant who came to my house said, she said she didn't know why he told me that but they don't have it at this time.
How do they expect me to understand all these complicated books? So I asked if I could cancel. She told me 'no', I couldn't because I only had 3 days to cancel and it's more than 3 months now. So I've been going through this mess since then. I have paid them about $3000 before I stopped paying the loan. I didn't take no class from this college network but they are now garnishing my wage for more than $11,000. I didn't get any letter from court to show up to defend myself because they gave the court a wrong address. The judgment was made in my absence.
College Network is a rip off, they lied and tricked me into what they couldn't provide. This should not be happening in this country. A lot of us are foreigners, we left our home because we looked up to this country for better things. This is so disappointing that this college network is still operating with all these report. God help us!
This incident has caused me emotional distress, a bad credit, inability to further my education due to not being qualified for student and left me unable to meet up with my bills.
