Complaint / review text:
I went to Aspen dental Dec 1 2012 because I broke a tooth the night before. The tooth was very sensitive and needed attention. I made an appointment and rushed to get there to be on time. I sat waiting almost 50 minutes to be seen. A dental assistant took me in for an xray. I told her I needed a root canal or some pain medication to get me to Monday, it was Saturday. The women told me an exam and total xrays of all my teeth was free but if I only wanted one xray it would be $80. I told her to forget it because I didn't need all my teeth xrayed. The office Manager came to talk to me and told me they couldn't do anything with the tooth that day anyway. The dentist then appeared I explained if I couldn't get some help with the tooth I might as well leave with no xray and save $80. The dentist told me she would have the xray done for free and evaluate my situation. There would be no charge.
They took the xray and the dentist told me I needed a root canal, post and a crown just like I told them earlier. They told me again they couldn't work on the tooth that day because the dentist didn't do root canals. Their computers were down so they couldn't give me any prices that day. They were going to call me with prices after they got the correct prices from my dental insurance. They finally called a few days later and told me it would be $556 for a bicuspid root canal a two root tooth.
The tooth I needed the root canal was a anterior tooth with one root. I called back right after I got their message and told them I'd be home please call me. The never returned my call. Today I got a bill for $110 for the free work they did. My balance is $25 after the insurance paid the first $85.
I'm not happy from free to $110 to my copay of $25. I guess I should feer lucky at onlt $25 but I feel they lured me in to get business. I consisder it a rip off from free to $110. My root canal is done and I was going to have Aspen make me a crown for $883 but not now. I'll never go back there again for dental work. I will be there next week asking them to explain the bill.
