I ordered a VuPoint Magic Wand scanner from this company through eBay. It took almost a week for me to receive the item, and I quickly discovered that it did not work. I contacted the company to ask for troubleshooting tips, and they told me to contact the manufacturer to see what might be wrong. The manufacturer said that it was a faulty product and should be returned. I returned the item to this company for a replacement, and after a little over a week, I received the replacement scanner. It had the exact same problem! I contacted the company once again, and they were slow about replying to my emails. They told me, for the second time, to contact the manufacturer to see what was wrong. I sent an email saying that it would cost me money to send it back to the manufacturer, and that I would rather have them honor their offer to give me a refund. No response for day. After trying to be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt for weeks, I decided to report the issue to eBay. A week later, the seller responded by saying that the 30-day return period had expired and he would not issue a refund. Unfortunately, eBay only honors complaints that are made within a 45-day time period, and I filed my complaint on day 46. Not only could I not get a refund, but I was also prohibited from leaving negative feedback on the seller's profile. Unbelievable! The seller was well aware of the timing involved in this situation, and I believe he deliberately delayed the process by not responding to my emails so the time would run out. I contacted the seller about the defective item and sent it back well within that 30-day time period, and he was unable to replace it with a functioning product. He basically said "time's up, I don't have to issue you a refund now" because he had deliberately dwindled down the 30-day return period. I tried to be a nice person and not file a complaint, but when I did so it was too late, thus proving that sometimes kindness can burn you.
I believe that the actions of this seller in my case were highly unethical. I know I'll never get my hard-earned money back, but I want everyone to know about what happened to me and to be wary of this seller. If you do choose to purchase from this company and you receive a defective product, don't let them manipulate you. Demand a refund immediately, and if they come up with an excuse not to give it to you, report them as soon as possible. Buyer beware!
