This is about the Maytag - model Maytag Performa # psd267Lhes Serial # 1031344ec five year, 7 month old refrigerator, which is completely dead and is certified non-repairable by a Maytag repairman. The bottom drawer of refrigerator froze constantly ruining produce.
Earlier, in April 2008 the refrigerator stopped working. I called Maytag and they set me up with a company to come and fix my lemon of a refrigerator. I had to pay for the service call, but they were more than happy to pay for the major part (compressor) that needed to be replaced. At the time I voiced my concern with Maytag that such a new appliance would need so much work and my concern about other stories I had read about the exact same model failing. I requested them to buy back my refrigerator due to my concerns of a complete failure of the refrigerator to run after it was out of warranty. I was told that was not their policy to do so.
Yesterday, I had the repairman out for the third time in three weeks since the compressor failed due to leaking hoses causing oil and water to get into the compressor. Yesterday I received the bad news it was completely unrepairable. Today I received a phone call from Whirlpool telling me they were not able to buy back my refrigerator or replace it as it is 7 months out of it warranty. They also made me feel as if I was talking about a really old refrigerator. We have to purchase a brand new refrigerator after barely 5 years of use, plus cost of failed repair visits, not to mention all of the ruined food and being in a "fridgeless" state.
