Complaint / review text:
We entered into a six month lease with Elders Ipswich. After signing the lease we rang up and talked to the property manager - Denise Cakzuk - about bringing our lease date a day forward.
She agreed. I rang a couple of days before to confirm the date and arrange the time to pick up the keys. I arrived on the agreed day, she had forgotten the arrangement though claimed the conversation never took place. The key was 'lost' (someone had put it on the wrong hook and they didn't find it for eight hours!) and the house hadn't been cleaned so we agreed to change the lease to four days later.
Unbelievably, I pick up the keys, go to the property and it hasn't been cleaned AT ALL, and I mean it was filthy, plus the owner had left loads of his own stuff in the property. I call the real estate, they tell me they're sending the owner around for me to deal with it because they are too busy. I called back after speaking with the RTA and told them I wouldn't be dealing with the owner because that is their job not mine. Ten minutes later Denise phones and says this is clearly going to be a problem tenancy, the lease is cancelled, bring the keys back and get a refund.
I was happy to cancel the lease but couldn't believe the way I was treated.
They breached the agreement by not having the house ready for occupancy, twice in one week, and then had the audacity to call me a problem tenant.
We had obviously already given notice to our previous agent but thankfully they hadn't relet the property so we were able to stay on no problem. If you must deal with the rental department of Elders Ipswich, avoid Denise Cakzuk at all costs if you value your time, sanity and want to be treated with any kind of decency whatsoever.
