Pre-order suddenly 'out of stock' - very fishy

On the 01 Oct I wanted to order products on pre-order. I first phoned the call centre to find out how this works and if it was guaranteed to receive the products. I was assured that I would definitely receive the products although the delivery date could not be confirmed. On the 27 Oct I noticed that one of the products I ordered was now available at half the price I paid. I contacted the call centre and they advised me that as I have already placed my order and paid I should re-order the product at the discounted price and cancel my previous order. Of course I would do this so I could buy an additional product I wanted that is also on pre-order. I did as they advised and they assured me I would receive the product as it was on pre-order so quantities are confirmed and that my refund will be 5-7 working days. Today I go into my account to check the delivery status and my order was just cancelled. I immediately called the call centre and was told the product was out of stock. Its a pre-order. I would have paid the original price if the problem was you making a mistake reducing the price and now backtracking saying its out of stock. Are my other pre-orders going to suddenly be OOS too
