Complaint / review text:
In February, I placed two orders with Bon Ton online. I received the orders, and three of the items did not fit, while the other three items were definitely not as pictured/described online. I took the merchandise back to my local Bon Ton store — 20 miles from my house — to return it. I was denied the return because of some TRE thing that BonTon subscribes to. BonTon return policy as listed online says, "We will accept returns or correct any quality problems on all merchandise purchased from our company. Upon verification that the merchandise was purchased from our company, we will exchange, return or repair the merchandise as long as the merchandise is not defaced, is not without its original packaging and is not without the original UPC barcode."
Down farther, it also states, "With a receipt: Returned items are refunded at the original purchase price, plus applicable sales tax, in the original method of payment." My return met all of the criteria described above, but was denied. I was told that I had to wait 90 days to return the merchandise. So, I tried again on June 2,2015. I was allowed to return one item, then denied returning the other items. I called customer service and was told I would be emailed a free shipping label.
I called them back before shipping the merchandise to verify that I would actually get the refund whereupon I was told that the return would be denied and shipped back to me and that I could never return the merchandise. I have the original packaging, the receipts, the tags on the merchandise and am being denied the return. I wonder how legal this actually is; I would like Bon Ton to actually honor its return policy. My rating would actually be zero if this review would let me rate Bon Ton at that level.
