Complaint / review text:
Moved to FL from out of state and needed a number of products for the new house. Bought a washer/dryer, some mattresses and a grill from hhgregg. Salesperson was nice and took care of the whole order. At 2:00 pm on delivery day, they call to cancel with no explanation. I call the store and apparently they cancelled the order because one item was damaged during loading. We reschedule for later that week and the order shows up, but pieces are missing. So we schedule another delivery day, and that order shows up with one piece missing, but not really. We ordered a king sized mattress, which takes two twin box springs, but in the hhgregg system, the salesperson has to know to select two "king-sized twin" boxed springs, otherwise you end up with only one. By the way, you pay for them separately, meaning a trip to the store to settle up.
While waiting on that, we sleep on the mattresses we have and the quality control on the Serta mattresses is terrible. No fault of hhgregg, but it forces another exchange/delivery. So back to the store to pick out new mattresses and while we're there, we find a dining room set we like. Salesperson keys up the new order and schedules delivery. I ask for the dining set to be unassembled because the seat covers are leather. Delivery comes and the exchange happens just fine. New mattresses are more like the ones we laid on at the store.
Dining table comes in a box, in good shape. Chairs come assembled. Two are damaged, two are missing. The delivery guy understands the situation and makes notes on the order form - Need four chairs and not assembled. Says the delivery will happen tomorrow and that they'll call to confirm. Needless to say, no call and no delivery the next day.instead, delivery comes two days later. Two chairs, assembled. Thankfully, no damage. As for the other two chairs, the salesperson keyed the order for four chairs, even though the tabletop and the store ad both state six.
Delivery guy says call the warehouse. Called the warehouse and they say I have to work with the store. Connect with the store and a clerk says it takes a manager and he'll call me back in 20 minutes. Ninety minutes later I call and get the manager. After reviewing the order he states that the salesperson only keyed the order for four chairs, so we'd have to come to the store and pay for the other two and then he could have them delivered. No explanation except "a screw up" for why the order was short the two chairs. I assume I was "on the list" because I never received the callback from the store.
In addition, paid full price for the table, even while 4th of July promotions were going on, apparently because I "had a store credit", due to the mattress exchange, even though the mattresses I bought were more expensive than the original pieces (per their Serta return requirements). Will get the two chairs and be done. Hopefully can take them from the store so I don't have to deal with another delivery.
