Billing after contract

My contract ended in December i skipped a month and had to pay the arrears in January which is fine. But then they never cancelled the contract and put me on a month to month without telling me i get an sms saying i havent paid for February and March i already have a new contract with MTN and now Cellc wants me to give them 30 days to cancel which means i owe them for February and march and the 30 days notice they need making the amount well over a 1000 to cancel a contract that should have automatically ended. I am and refuse to be exploited like this i am ready to go to consumer commission with this and expect my problemt to be escalated to management instead they let me speak to a person who couldnt even help me with my call at all she was silent for most of the call not giving any feedback or solution the reference to the call was 1503250000049160.
