We rented an Airbnb room in a beautiful house for our daughter who moved to Palo Alto to work for Stanford University. The host would not let her stream movies from Netflix but there was no tv provided in the room.
The host would not let her use the kitchen but the small refrigerator in the room froze all of her food. The host wouldn't let her use her shampoo because she said her family was allergic to it. While the host posted rules that we read before she moved to Palo Alto, the host had a whole list of unspoken rules. We had paid for 3 weeks in advance for this room but our daughter moved out after 2 weeks because she couldn't stand her host's controlling, belittling, insulting and disrespectful host.
I filed for a $700 refund. Airbnb gave me $350.
From reading Airbnb reviews, it seems that Airbnb will back a host every time and find fault with guests. We are never using Airbnb again.
