Complaint / review text:
Just two days ago I went to Petco to buy my sister 5 goldfish for her 11th birthday. I had a tank already, but they pressured me over and over until I bought a new one. I bought the fish at 5:30, and by 9:00 two of them were dead. I figured it wasn't a big deal and went back to Petco with my sister to get them replaced. This time they told us that it wasn't their fault that they died and we couldn't get a refund, even though on their website there is a 30 day refund policy. So I bought two more fish, they lasted throughout the day, then as my sister and I were going to bed, we saw yet another fish floating belly up to the top of the tank.
I called to complain again today and ask what fish I could get that would last longer than 5 pathetic hours, and after sitting on hold forever they simply told me it was "one of the risks of purchasing a fish". I bought a different fish from a different store, and it's been alive for almost a year. Yet, at Petco, fish can't live for more than 5 hours? This is not the first bad experience I've had with Petco, and I have no intention of returning. Although fish are more expensive other places, I am more than willing to go out of my way for a new fish, and am perfectly fine paying more for the sole reason that they are NOT Petco.
