Petsmart does terrible and unfair (unfair to both humans and animals) things. The goldfish are in WAY overly crowded tanks, the bettas are sold in tiny cups with no comfort or friendship, and out of the 14 fish I have gotten there, about 5 of them died within the first few weeks! Many of the items sold for fish and other pets are completely unsafe; I have seen bird cages that are WAY, WAY too small, not to mention awful brands of mouse food and toys. The divider I got for my 10 gallon fish tank collapsed the day I brought it home; it could have easily caused my betta fish to kill each other if I wasn't cycling the tank first. The VERY MINIMUM tank for betta fish is one gallon; they sell tanks that are only one quart and say they are absolutely fine.
"We love to see healthy, happy pets!" says the sign in the window. Every time I see that I say to my self, "Oh you do, eh, well you sure don't produce any "Which is true; the suppliers of Petsmart literally treat the animals like trash; we read that they are in crowded, dirty cages with little food and water, and that they get shipped in tiny, cramped boxes where they can hardly breath and move around.
Also, the employes are non-educated and a lot of them know hardly anything about animals. If you haven't noticed, I think Petsmart is just a selfish, money making chain store with no regard for animal's well-being whatsoever. I am, however very grateful to them for one thing: my beloved betta fish Moonlight, for all that he taught me in the years I had him.
