Complaint / review text:
I am a massage student in Wisconsin and I have talked to many massage therapists trying to gain as much knowledge about what it's like out of school. I spoke with one man that worked at Massage Envy and it makes him want to quit the profession entirely.
First of all they treat their therapists like cattle, herding them from one massage to the next with a small break in between, barely any client relationship. I would be mortified and disappointed, but not at all surprised to hear that some of their therapists are working as masseuses, not massage therapists. A girl he worked with has told her boss multiple times there are a few men treating her extremely inappropriately and she won't massage them again, her boss said, "Yes you will, you are our employee." Massage should not be something done on a corporate level, massage is something that is trying to work it's way into insurance so we can become real health care providers.
Places like Massage Envy, ruin the entire profession with its money first, clients second, therapists last approach.
