I have approached Standard Bank Vangate Branch and met with a business Banker Lungile Mabija over 6 weeks ago regarding a possible support from Standard Bank for my new business with a loan. Firstly I am not sure if the Business Banker knows what he is doing. I have submitted the documents requested 4 weeks ago and the business rep visited my shop in Bishop Lavis Shoprite Centre. I explained my business and my intention including written description of the business. The Business account was opened at Gugulethu. The Business banker never replies on progress of the application. I was told the application takes 3 days but received a telephone call from the business banker on Friday 5 September 2014 that my application was declined. Should clients receive a telephone call after 6 weeks without proper consultation or explanation. I am sure Standard Bank has a program called" think big "on Television on Thursday in helping entrepreneur but when it comes down to the client the service is totally the opposite. I hold various accounts with STB and understand there are criteria, but surely the service and help is vital. How does employment grow and how can small business grow.
