Why do Standard Bank internal payments take 24 hrs

Complaint / review text:
I transferred R4,000 from my personal account to my business account. Both accounts are with Standard Bank. The amount was debited from my personal account but is not reflecting in my business account. When I call the Bank I get some nonsense that a payment can reflect anything from 1 hour to 24 hours. What a load of rubbish. If I do a transfer from my other business account at ABSA the amount shows immediately. When I transfer from My account to my wife's account which is also with Standard Bank the amount shows immediately.

Why then do I get such rubbish that it takes 1 to 24 hours. How should a standard bank client plan when their is no consistency in their system. If I transfer from my one account to my other account within the same bank I expect the funds to be immediately available.

I am writing out of sheer frustration having spent 25 minutes on the phone with two different consultants and am no closer to an answer. What bothers me most is that I am unable to even check whether the money did indeed go to the correct account. The bank cannot even answer this simple question.
