I consolidated my student loans with AES some years ago. Their neglect has cost me over 20,000.00 in interest to my loan. I have called, written, and faxed them about my loans and loan payment. I'm on a plan they say I'm not qualified for and I have sent all my tax, pay stubs, and forms over and over. Every time I call, I get an experienced person who answers phones but does not solve problems. I am a teacher and had to start my forgiveness time over after having a baby and going on maternity. Other providers say that AES will not honor their forgiveness plan. I regret ever getting involved with AES. I asked for advice and guidance regarding paying back my loans and they steered me in a financially damaging direction. With a fixed income, it is difficult to pay such high amounts monthly and get the balance down. Their actions have proven that they are invested in keeping customers in debt. They steer people into deferment, which keeps the interest growing. I was told once a couple years ago that the plan I was on would stop the interest from growing. Not so. It is too bad there is not more help for people with student loans or a consequences to providers.
