I have had what I understood to be Comprehensive cover with Miway since June 2011, paying a premium of over a thousand rand a month for the last 4 years, to insure a car that cost R110 000 brand new.
Last week Monday my car was broken into, window smashed, the car radio & other personal items were.
When I called to lodge a claim, I spoke to an Ofentse Oganne, who was very unprofessional, unsure of his facts, stumbling over his words & asking the same questions repeatedly.
He quoted me two different figures for excess, then took more than a week to come back to me despite several e-mail requests for feedback. I asked him to refer me to a senior person at MIway & I was just ignored.
Now he calls to say my excess is R7 000 (10% of the value of the car). & the damages are only R676 according to their assessment. The cost of the window alone is R1 500. Ive claimed from them for a broken window before & paid excess of R715, but now im being told my policy is a "Miway Lite" & the excess is different. Why is my excess R7 000 when I'm not asking them to replace the whole car?!
