I took out a loan for $5,000.00, two months into my loan my job cut my pay. My wife and I advised the people at the loan store of our dilemma. When I asked what can be done due to my loss of pay they said they would "redo" my loan or provide some kind of payment arrangement. I arrived to find that they would not redo my loan and no arrangement was available. Springleaf withdrew money from my account without my permission days later. I cancelled my bank account so they could not withdraw anymore funds.
Now when a payment comes due (I am two months behind on $287.00) they call me and my wife at least 8 times a day from various numbers throughout the day for a payment and call my references. The one time I did try to speak with someone by phone (after they called me at work and threatened me) they were rude and very condescending. Another time I sent them a payment via certified mail to make sure they got it and they refused it (actual statement from post office). Is it that serious for $287.00? I work in B2B receivables and was a retail debt collector for 5 yrs, I do know the rules of the FDCPA and if I were to speak to a customer as they do I would be fired on the spot..
