Sounds like a debt to income ratio problem and you couldn't properly document deferrerment of your student loans for 12 months. It's also likely the other lender was telling you incorrect information or didn't have all the info PL did.
Bottom line is your risk excieded the threshold and your chances of default are greater than not. All lenders are in the business of makeing sound loans to customers that can and will repay the loan throught DOCUMENTED sources. And they all have the same guidelines. I'm willing to bet you had the same problem with your new lender unless something material to the approval changed such as paying off debt or reducing the loan amount.
Don't blame the lender.
They all lend to qualified individuals. If they didn't give you a loan you weren't qualified.
