Before Sallie Mae was taken over by Navient, I had made 5 years of payments on time with no late fees assessed. When the account fell under Navient I made my regular scheduled payment and later in the month a $34.00 late fee was assessed by Navient due to a review of my account previously under Sallie Mae. Since then I've made 3 payments that were made online two days before the due date but they didn't post the payment until 3 days later which resulted in yet another $34.00 late fee being assessed on the following month.

When I called all I got was the standard line "we assess the late fee on the following month", but I don't know if there is a late fee assessed until I get ready to pay. I don't like the practice and I never had that problem with Sallie Mae. If my due date is the 4th of the month and I make my online payment on the 1st or 2nd, I shouldn't have to worry about being assessed a late fee added to my next monthly payment because they take 4 days to post my payment. I'm trying to get my dad off the account as the Co-Borrower and I was in the process of doing that when the account was under Sallie Mae and I had made 5 years of on-time payments. Since the account has moved to Navient I have 4 credited late payments and I'm afraid I won't be able to get him released as the co-borrower. I hate Navient!!
