Complaint / review text:
I'm a Teacher. I taught 3 years at one TX school district; currently teaching at a TX high school. Tried applying for teacher loan forgiveness.information from my current employer was sent but sending info from my previous employer has proven difficult. Before I sent it out, AES employee told me to "check the box that I previously applied for teacher loan forgiveness, " so I filled it out according to the employee. Sent to my former employer to sign so they may fax it to AES. Received a rejection letter from AES stating that I didn't sign it (I did sign it, signature on the page).
The school's address is not there. (it is) and that I checked the wrong box on whether I applied for teacher loan forgiveness before. I resubmitted another application. This time AES stated that they never received it. I was very angry with the AES customer rep that I told them that I was going to file a complaint with the Department of Education. His reply was, "Go ahead and do that." I asked to speak to a manager. I was never transferred to the manager. I have the copies that show my application was filled out correctly.
I'm trying to make my 319.00 payments each month, balance still stands 44k. Each payment I make doesn't make a dent in the balance. I've paid more in interest than the balance. (Even the extra payments that I make goes to the interest.) I know I qualify for a teacher loan forgiveness (I taught a total of 6 years). I don't know why AES continues to exhibit poor customer service.
