Complaint / review text:
When I first called AmeriSave's Sean, he was patient and responsive. He asked me to write an excellent review with ConsumerAffairs which I complied. He told me to pay for the appraisal of $475 and it would be deducted back later from the AmeriSave's credit for me. He assured me that everything looked good and he would lock the interest rate. He referred me to the Loan Officer who was extremely busy to return phone calls. I complied with all his requests; it took hours and hours of unlimited requests of paper work.
When I needed help, no one seemed to be available to help. I had to stumble myself to finish the requests, and I felt I was making a big mistake to sign up with AmeriSave. Then I was told to wait. I waited for a couple of months. During the waiting time, I called Sean numerous times and left messages but no answer. What a contrast from the beginning when he wanted business. Then one day, I was able to get Sean on the phone. He asked me to be patient because they had a high volume of business and reassured me that my interest rate was locked in. A couple of months passed by, I left messages with the loan officer and I finally received a message from the loan officer that my loan was not approved. He was not clear to say why the loan was not approved.
Then I called Sean many times, and I eventually was able to talk to Sean directly. He couldn't explain why my loan was denied. He said it was not up to him to decide. I asked for my appraisal fee back but he said it was part of the business and I should take the loss. Sean did not tell me upfront that I had to pay the appraisal fee if the loan was denied.in the beginning, Sean told me that I did not have to pay any fees. I think AmeriSave should be upfront with the customers that the appraisal fees is not refundable whether the loan is approved or not. Sean did not tell me the truth upfront. I regret that I was too quick to be prompted by him to give him an excellent review. I should have waited until the end to evaluate his service.
I am sorry I signed up with AmeriSave for a loan. I wasted almost 6 months of precious time for nothing. I wasted the time for the low interest rate period. They should know immediately that my loan was denied within one week. I could have applied elsewhere to get a low interest rate. After wasting 6 months, the interest rate has gone up quite a bit and I lost the opportunity to apply for a lower interest loan. AmeriSave did me a disservice by delaying to tell me the truth. After wasting six months with AmeriSave, now I still have my old loan and I lost $475 for no reason. They should at least refund me the appraisal fee. I asked for a copy of the appraisal report but I never heard from them again. Why can't I get a copy of the appraisal report that was paid by me??? I am angry at AmeriSave.
