Complaint / review text:
I received a bill for escrow due to Chase purchasing flood insurance, which we had already purchased through our insurance company. My agent sent all the required paperwork to Chase proving we had current flood insurance. When I called to find out why Chase was charging me for under escrow balance, I was told my mortgage payment was in arrears for two months, January and February. My February bill is not due till the 15th, and I have my cancelled check showing Chase received and cashed the January. Payment of $1400.00. Because they do not put the amount due on the bill, I sent in $1400.00 as usual, but I was told that we were short $18.00. Therefore, they did not apply the $1400 to the payment! I was never notified of the underpayment and I am furious that they kept my money, accruing interest when they never applied it! When I called the phone number on the bill, I was routed to their collection department, again, not even knowing there was a problem.
I do not want this on my credit report. I have never missed a mortgage payment in more than 25 years! Chase would not guarantee that it would not be reported. Plus, I think they should pay me the interest on the $1400 that they pretty much just stole from me.
