Complaint / review text:
I have a GE Money Bank Credit Card also known as CareCredit. I use this card specifically for health related and veterinary care issues. The card is primarily advertised toward these issues and stress that the promotional period is 0% interest. I opened this card last year (2009), and used it periodically. I sometimes paid it off, sometimes in the promotional period, sometimes not. When I wasn't able to pay the promotional amount, I would be charged 14.99% interest which I thought was okay. However, to my horror, this month my interest went to 26.99%!
How is this suppose to help the average American? I am barely scrapping by and these institutions are taking us for granted and letting us bleed. Is there something that can be done? I cannot pay this amount and my credit isn't that great to begin with. I was slowly rebuilding myself back from bankruptcy. I thought I was being protected by the President Credit Card Act. Can something be done to bring my percentage back to 14.99%. My minimum payment due went from something like $23 to $77. I pay $100 per month. Never missed a payment or was late. My finance charge now is $133. This is outrageous. Help! Thanks in advance.
