Complaint / review text:
We fell behind on our mortgage payment in January 2010. My husband and I are both self-employed and payments from clients were slow in coming. I called Beneficial on April 6,2010 and offered to make a monthly mortgage payment of $1644. Beneficial told me they would only accept the total past due amount of over $7,500 which was impossible to pay. They refused to accept any payment at all. We called again on June 30,2010 and were told we needed to make a payment of over $10,000 to bring our account current. This amount is impossible and we offered to make a $2,000 per month payment for the next 5 months to get current which Beneficial refused.
It seems like Beneficial purposely refuses to accept payments so they can force the foreclosure issue with many more added costs. This seems so unfair. We have asked them to refinance which they told us they do not do. They are impossible to deal with. We asked if we could enter into their hardship program and they refused. Beneficial will absolutely not work with us in any way. I desperately need legal help and don't know who to contact. There has to be a lawyer somewhere who would take a class action law suit against Beneficial. Help! The refusal of Beneficial to work with us and accept whatever payments we can send them has caused our credit report to deteriorate and has caused many financial problems for us.
