Complaint / review text:
AFNI is trying to collect an invalid debt from me. I asked for validation of this debt within 1 day of receiving their first collection notice. AFNI violated the FDCPA by continuing collection actions within one week after receiving my request for validation without sending me legal validation of this debt. They are claiming a five-year old statement showing a current balance is validation of a debt. The issue with the original vendor (T-Mobile) was settled 5 years ago, and my account was credited due to an error (the reason for the inappropriate charge which AFNI now claims is a "debt"). I never saw the original statement that AFNI claims is proof of a debt against me. They are using an old statement to fraudulently extort money from me.
