Complaint / review text:
Prior to enrollment at University of Phoenix / Axia College, which is an online course in information technology, I was told I was getting a grant to attend. Next thing I know I get student loan papers for not one loan but two. Much higher than the one I applied for. I was told that each block of classes which was two classes at nine weeks total would cost me $750 per block. Then I get a bill for $950 a block. So I call my enrollment councelor and he states that it was $950 per block, so I said ok, whatever. Three blocks into my Education in Information Technology I get another bill for the amount of $950 per CLASS. That is $1900 a block. So I called and called and didn't get any response. I finally got a hold of my financial advisor and she tells me that it was all written in the contract I signed. I never signed any contract. And I never signed for a $7500 loan. I signed for a $2500 loan. So I called my lender and canceled the other disbursement of my loan. However This school still burnt me for $4500. So I have filed a complaint with the BBB.
I am very discouraged about furthering my education through a university. So I have decided to attend a technical school. I still have a huge student loan to pay off because I listened to this University of Phoenix enrollment councelor. I attended that college for 7 months and learned absolutely nothing.
