Complaint / review text:
I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with this company after purchasing a used car from a dealer that "guaranteed" approval. I was told they required an extended warranty for approval and the additional $2,000 would be included in the financed amount.
I had no choice to agree, as I was in a bad situation at the time. Approximately six months later, I found myself in a more favorable situation and traded the vehicle in, paying cash for the new vehicle. I contacted credit acceptance in regards to the extended warranty protection I no longer needed, asking them to refund the balance. They were immediately rude, speaking down to me, until I told them I had paid the account off.
They told me I needed to provided them with the mileage on the vehicle at trade in, and since I already traded it, "this would not likely be possibe". I advised the person on the phone I had recorded the mileage prior to trading and could provided this information. Immediately, the rude, condesending attitude returned as they required me to fax this information, along with my printed name and signature to them. I did this on February 8th and was told all the information was in order, I was owed $1300 and some change, and should expect a check in the mail next week.
Since I had gotten no check, I called them again on the 17th. Again, after waiting through the telephone automation, I was greeted with a rude customer sevice representative and was told, "there was a processing delay, you will have it next week. I called again on the 22nd, as I still had no check, put up with the nasty cutomer service representative, and was told, "you were given false information, you will have a check by the end of February". On Febrary 29th, I had still gotten no check, big surprise!
I had to call them again, dread. On February 29th I was again told, "your check will be released next week". I attempted to tell the "supervisor" on the phone how many times I had been told this, the "supervisor" spoke over me, not allowing me to speak, and advised me I had been given "false information". I guess it isn't only the representatives that are rude on the phone.
I will wait until March 5th and have to call them again. I wonder if I would still have my car if I had run them around this much about my payment.
