We applied to refinance our house the beginning of February. Every time we call, either the loan officer is on vacation or out of the office. Last week, we were told we would be closing this week. On Monday, I emailed to find out what day, and of course, the reply was that he is out of the office. On Tuesday, I sent an email to him and his assistant, saying my husband is taking off work Friday to close.
Today, we got a call that the loan officer no longer works at Suntrust and that our loan just went to underwriting (It seems like they should be able to tell us the exact day it went, but of course, they can't.) and it can take 20 working days, which means another freaking month! I believe we only locked in for 60 days, so we will lose our rate.
I am so irate; I can't see straight. My neighbors and two other people I know recently refinanced their homes, and it only took 3-4 weeks to refinance through another company. If we hadn't already paid the appraisal, I would tell them to get screwed! Do not finance through Suntrust!
