While I was sill a child my mother opened up an education policy for me at Metropolitan life insurance company. The policy was up to date until my mother passed away in July 2003. After her death my family and I went to Metropolitan life insurance office in Newcastle to try and see if the policy she opened for me could atleast pay for the rest of my high school fees that was outstanding that particular year since I was still in high school at that time. Unfortunately we were told that the education policy she had opened for me was strictly for tertiary education only and I should come back when I finish high school with the details of the University I have registered to so that they can make direct deposit to the University.
Sadly I had to finish school in the year 2005 (8 years ago) with my grand mothers pansion money, but I did as I was told, like they said I went back to them after I finished my matric with the details of the university I had registered to study to and then they changed their statement telling me that my mother had signed that the money should only be released for study fees in the year 2014. What I do not understand is that by 2014 I would be 28yrs old and I do not think that my mother thought I was only going to university by then?
I personaly think that Metropolitan insurance should be punished by making them pay back all the money they take from other people illegaly, its wrong and very sad if you think of all the orphans that are left with nothing but what their parents thought its an investment for their children one day to be able to live which turns out it was for nothing at the end but sorrow.
