We had our homeowner's insurance through Travelers.in July of 2001, a drunk driver ran a stop sign causing another car to run off the road into our yard tearing down our front fence and digging a trench across our yard. Of course, both vehicles were uninsured so we had to file a claim on our homeowner's to fix our fence. Then in June of 2003, a violent storm caused three trees to fall in our yard, crushing a good portion of the back yard fence, destroying an aluminum storage shed in the backyard. And in the front yard, a huge tree branch clipped the corner of the house ripping down some gutters and knocking down power lines. We called and asked if we would risk losing our insurance if we filed a claim, and the agent assured us that since it was an "Act of God, " we would not be cancelled. We filed the claim, fixed the fence, dealt with the downed trees and went on thinking everything was fine. We recently decided to refinance the house to enable us to get a lower interest rate and pay off some credit card debt and do some repairs to the house. Then we received a letter today from Travelers informing us we were being cancelled due to the two claims and the credit report.
