I paid off one of the bond accounts I have with Standard Bank October 2014 and sent the bond cancellation request as per procedure. I was later contacted by the attorneys who were instructed by Standard Bank to attend to the cancellation. Required documentation was sent to the attorneys and their fees paid. I was instructed to pay R229.39 into the bond account to cover the service fees for the period of 90 days (while the bond account was still open). I contacted the attorneys at the beginning of this year seeing that the bond account was still open and no feedback or action had been taken. The attorneys advised that they were told that the original title deeds were lost and there is some application that needed to be made; however they are battling in getting any assistance from Standard Bank to allow them to proceed with the cancellation. I have been in contact with Standard Bank Home loans division and NO ONE has assistance me. The amount that I asked to pay into the account as service fee is almost used up and I'll have to add more money while Standard Bank is not doing anything on their part to have this paid off account cancelled.
