I had a GOLD Discovery card with no hassles until 2 weeks ago received a call from a telesales rep stating i qualify for limit increase. I declined the full amount offered and settled for a lower increase.
Also offered upgrade my GOLD card to Platinum. I enquired about the benefits, cost implications which she informed me. She specifically mentioned that the Platinum card carried 18.85% interest rate. I asked her what is my current interest rate which she clearly mentioned was at 22.65% and i would save 3%. Based on this information i signed the quote sent to me.
The PROBLEM comes in when i checked my statement as i wanted to confirm interest rates, i was actually on a 15% GOLD card interest rate linked to my profile which clearly states on the website. And now my so called new platinum card rate is 18.85%.
In effect i am paying a higher monthly card fee and higher interest rate which i did NOT call Discovery to upgrade. Based on false information provided to me they will not downgrade my card back to what it was.
The telephone conversation is recorded yet Discovery refuse to assist. If all fails i will take this up with the Ombudsman, failing which will be time to close the ac
