My husband left his Chase card at a restaurant and when he went back to get it they said they didn't have it. (Of course several hours later the waitress turned it in...) We had already called Chase to tell them about losing the card so it was closed. I knew I had another credit card at home and would just use it. Found the card at home... It still had the activation sticker on the front so I did that. It activated just fine... This was the next day... Which was Saturday (11/8/08). I TALKED with Chase about this card and they said 'Yes. The card is now active.'
Well... Today... 11-11-08... I tried to use my card at Wal-Mart and it was declined. To make a LONG and aggravating conversation short, they closed my card due to inactivity. They had been sending me this card for years. THEY KNEW my husband had lost his... So AFTER I activate the 'other' card... And put charges on it... And change all of my auto pays to this 'new' card... THEY CLOSE MY ACCOUNT?!! This was done out of TOTAL disregard for anything that had happened to us. I work at a bank and have excellent credit and the only reason I had a Chase card was for the cash back. My bank doesn't offer cash back on credit cards. Folks, this is the reason you do NOT WANT TO DO BUSINESS with a big bank. They don't really care about what is going on in your life. I told them they looked really dumb for activating my card then closing it the next day. They said 'They chose to close it... Due to inactivity. That is exactly what they said... Yet they also 'chose' to allow me to activate it the day before. Am I the only one or is this POOR customer service? Unbelievable.
Fortunately no economic or physical damage resulted.
