Complaint / review text:
In September, 2008 we had a massive storm with winds in excess of 70 mph gusts. Our roof did not have any shingles missing so we did not know it was damaged. However, upon further inspection we found at least 20 to 25% of our shingles are completely loose and no longer have their seal. Obviously the shingles have not unglued themselves. The majority of the loose shingles are in the front of the house, directly in the path of the wind. This was a substantial storm and also took down 4 mature trees on our property.
We contacted State Farm and they sent out a claims adjuster. The first adjuster said she would only pay to have the shingles reglued down. We contested that. State Farm sent out another adjuster and this adjuster said there was no storm damage to their guidelines. He has said they will not pay anything on our roof claim. We have had two reputable roofing companies come out and both of them have said the roof is damaged and needs to be replaced.
They have agreed the damage was from wind. We do not know what to do next. We called Owens Corning and the shingles are only guaranteed for 60 mph winds. We have been customers of State Farm for over 10 years now with no homeowners claims prior.
