Complaint / review text:
I have had an Auto loan with BMO Harris for 1 year now. When I purchased the vehicle I set up automatic withdrawals from my checking account for the monthly payments.
The first payments was debited from my bank account as agreed btu within two weeks they started calling and saying that I was late on my payment. I sent a copy of my bank statement showing that I paid and they corrected. The following month, the same thing happened, the third month it happened again. I deceive to cancel the auto debit and I just called every month and made my payment over the phone.
This worked well until May of this year. They called and said they had not received payment for April or May. I told them they debited my account both months, sent a copy of my bank statement and they said that was not good enough, they needed a hard copy. I went to my bank, Chase bank, and they informed me that there was no hard copy since it was an ACH debit that BMO.
Took out of my account. BMO states without a hard copy that there is nothing they can do. They have reported April as late, and I had to make an extra payment to ensure that May was not reported late. I have been fighting this for over a month.
The ACH debit even has my loan account number on it. How can a bank just lose someone's money and not take responsibility for it when there is proof of debit?
