We had the older box shape Escape and loved it. When the new Escape came out we thought that it would be really good on fuel after all the adds from Ford, and obtained it brand new. Really like the shape and inside of this car BUT it has more problems than driving pleasure. After it spend nearly 2 months at the dealer for a recall, it has been more at the dealer than at home.
First the navigation would just stop working leaving you stranded not knowing where to go, then radio would work but NO sound, only way to get it working would be to stop next to the road switch off the car open door and restart the car. This would only work sometimes. The problem with it right now is it would start and then just die on you, it also has no power. The local dealer has been really great. They changed out some sensor and thought that was the problem. Now it is even worse. Local dealer is giving up and also tells us that we are not the only vehicle that has this problem. We don't use this car to do long trips anymore as it is not reliable at all. It has only 24000 km on the clock.
What is really bad is that I am still paying this car but cannot use it as intended. I think it is time that Ford take this car back and give my money back so that I can get something reliable. I use to think a lot about Ford but after this fiasco it would be a hard sell to buy another Ford! I do not advise anybody to buy a Ford Escape!!! I also think that this vehicle is dangerous to drive as you have no idea when it will just quit on you. Also my V8 truck uses less fuel per Km than my not wanted Ford Escape. Worst part is that there is no real Ford Helpline just a bad circle within a circle that brings you back to the starting point with no solutions.
