Catastrophic Engine failure

Complaint / review text:
Approximately two weeks after having my car to the dealer for a replacement water pump, I pulled into the gas station and filled up my tank. No problem at all with my car.

Upon starting up my car, a loud bang, and my engine was toasted. This is a known problem to chrysler, and with many engines failing. I had it towed into the car deal only to be told I need a new engine. The dealer didn't offer any assistance, but only wanted approval for the repair.

Since Chrysler is aware of their engines having failure due to the value seats breaking, (a two part piece where the bottom half drops); and the piston comes up and hits it, shredding it to pieces, then it should have been done on a recall. But NO, chrysler puts the blame on the customer.in addition, the mechanics know of this problem, due to the number of cars that have come in for issues like this. This is a design flaw!!!

I have never had a car have engine failure at 152,000 miles. I have had a 1988 Chevrolet suburban with 358,000 miles before I got rid of it for a new jeep. Before that I had a Homda Civic with close to 315,000 miles and it still was running for a family friend well over 400,000 miles. This was my 3rd Jeep, and I am appalled of the lack of quality this product of the vehicle engine design.

I believe this should have been a design recall on the engine. You cannot say that the number of engines that are having these same failures is not a manufacturing defective design flaw.

Wake use Chrysler... Your design will make you lose the loyalty of your customers. I loved my 2006 Jeep Commander; but knowing this, I know I won't by another Jeep or Chrysler product.
