I own a 2005 Nissan Murano. I bought it new. When I got into the vehicle a few days ago the drivers seat seemed to come loose. It wobbles badly. I took the car to the local Nissan dealership and was told that the seat bracket had broken. I would need a new seat and with installation it would cost approximately $1,000. The car has 44,000 miles. I am the only driver and have taken exceptional care of the vehicle.

After many exchanges with Nissan Customer Service I was told that Nissan had no obligation to repair the problem. I am now finding through internet searches that this situation is widespread. This is obviously a serious and dangerous design flaw with the vehicle. If this bracket breaks for no apparant reason, what would happen in an accident? How can Nissan escape liability for this known safety problem? Does someone have to die first? I am furious and will never own another Nissan! $1,000 to replace the unsafe seat.
