I am the original owner of 2004 530i BMW and have followed all maintenance requirements. On 7/7/10, took my car in for routine oil service (54,777 miles) at Encinitas BMW. Within 2 weeks, post service the engine overheated and check engine light came on, so took it to an independent BMW specialist and they said their was no radiator fluid. After extensive radiator evaluation they found nothing wrong with the radiator except it had no fluid. There was no leakage.
So, I went back to Encinita dealership and after the diagnostic check, they said the engine needed to be replaced. They think the engine got too hot, so the engine became damaged. The initial oil service included radiator check and I believe they never filled the radiator fluid which caused the engine to overheat. Therefore, I had to buy a new engine for $13,500 even though my original engine had only 55K miles due to their mechanics error. New engine purchased for $13,500.
