Complaint / review text:
I got my car in 02-11-2012. When I got the car, my brakes were bad and still are. I noticed it after the first week of having the car. I called DriveTime to let them know and asked them to fix my car and they said they would. I took the car to one of the service centers that they work with and Sears told me that I had 5,000 to 10,000 more miles on my brakes and it would take them about two hours to fix it because they were very busy. But when Sears called DriveTime to make sure that they were going to pay to get my car fixed, DriveTime was closed. So Sears asked me to bring it back next week.
Now the first time I took it to Sears was 03-10-2012 and I took it back 03-17-2012 to get my brakes fixed. I called DriveTime right before Sears did to make sure that DriveTime would fix my car and I was told yes, that DriveTime would still fix the brakes on my car. Later on Sears called DriveTime to confirm that they would fix my car but DriveTime denied my claim and would not fix my car. So, I talked to DriveTime to find out why and they told me that I had gone past the 30 days and they will not pay for it but I had told DriveTime about my car before the 30 days. I said they should fix my car but they refused.
Later on I filed a complaint about my brakes and how they would not fix my car and they called me back and told me the reason why my claim was denied was because I went over a certain amount of miles but that was not what I was told before. Then on 07-12-2012, all of my brakes lights went out at the same time. I called DriveTime about that and they told me if it was electrical they would not fix it. Later on I found out that Hyundai had a recall on the 2007 Elantra for the problem that I was having with the brakes lights and Hyundai fixed free but DriveTime had this car in 2011 when Hyundai had another recall on the 2007 Elantra and DriveTime did not take it to Hyundai to get what needed to be fixed on the car fixed.
On 07-17-2012, I took my car to Hyundai and they found other things wrong with my car. My transmission fluid is black and needs to be flushed as well as my coolant and my timing belt is also bad and needs to be changed. I went to DriveTime to let them know what Hyundai had found and asked them to fix my car and they told me I needed to call the warranty repair line to file a claim and also he slipped up and said that all the things that is wrong with my car should have been fixed. So, I called and talked to my case worker that was assigned to me and I told Denise (the case worker) about the new problems with my car and Denise told me to take it to one of the repair shops, that they could look at my car but I have to pay 50 dollars so they can look at the problems with my car.
At the time, I did not have the money to pay 50 dollars so I waited until I had the money and I've been down through this with DriveTime already once before. So, I called back to make sure my car would be fixed and I was told that if it is a maintenance problem that they would not fix it and they said that they don't do maintenance on cars, that they just fix broken cars and basically told me that I would have to wait until my car breaks down for DriveTime to fix it. I told them, "What if I was driving and my car breaks down? I would be stuck on the side of the road, " and that I am telling DriveTime about the problem now for them to fix it before it happens.
They said that if that happens, that is why they offer road side assistance. So DriveTime still will not fix my car and the gentleman at Hyundai, Gene, told me that DriveTime should not have sold me a car in bad condition and that my car should have been fixed before they sold it to me. He also said that the timing belt on my car should have been changed at 60,000 miles but was not changed. DriveTime did the inspection on my car on 09-28-2011 and did not check or overlooked the fact that this car needed work done on it. Now all the things that is wrong with my car I could not have done because I just got this car in February and DriveTime refuses to fix my car. DriveTime sucks. Don't buy a car from them.
