UPS lost $500 worth of stuff

Complaint / review text:
We shipped clothes, shoes, and some cooking items to our new house couple of days before we moved. We shipped 2 x-large boxes and 1 suitcase to our new house.

We recieved our items on the same day as the movers came and were unloading our stuff. Since the movers were unloading we were unable to open the boxes until couple of days after they left. We found that couple of expensive jeans and shirts, a steel cooking pot, and some spices which were imported form India. When the boxes came to our house we found though we shipped the items in x-large when the boxes came they were in size large and the tape was all crooked and messy, which means that somewhere the boxes were opened and sealed again.

We put the items we were shipping in the boxes in front of his eyes. Since the man saw us put the items in the boxes he probaly took the items out himself and re-sealed the boxes. Since we weren't able to open the boxes and the suitcase until 3 days after they came (because the movers came the same day) UPS wouldn't honor the claim we moved for the lost items. (They only read your claim if it was made wihtin 48 hours of receiving date.) I wouldn't recommend UPS to anyone and won't ever ship stuff through them ever again.

I will use USPS or FedEX from now on. At least though they charge more, they get the job done well.
