I had Avast antivirus in 2011. I had used the free version and thought it was pretty good, so I purchased for 1 year.
After having many problems with the paid for program/antivirus, I decided to cancel my subscription for the following year. Even though I had cancelled my subscription, the next month, Avast company automatically charged my bank card for another year subscription. I spent about 3/4 of an hour on the phone with a lady, who promised me the account was cancelled and my money would be refunded. I never received a refund and am happily using Norton antivirus now, with no problems.
Sept of 2012, guess what, another charge from their company. Stated 'automatic renewal.' WHAT!!! I sent a letter to their support team... But, no refund.
2013 April... Automatic renewal... Now they are charging me every 6 months!!! Again... Another letter... Tried for days to reach someone by phone. No luck... Imagine that!
March 2014... Mind you, I am still a happy NORTON user but again, automatic renewal... AVAST!!! Another letter... And (I copy and paste my letters and complaints to AVAST to my WORD) attempts to reach someone by phone with no luck.
March 2015... Received an e-mail saying my subscription download was ready and they charged me $39!!! Another letter sent to customer support... And why are they charging me $39??? I have closed this account in 2012, but since they have my bank card number, they just keep charging it anyway.
April 7,2015... E-mail stating... This is a reminder that your automatic subscription renewal will take place in the next 10 days... WHAT!!! I am sooo... Mad now, "this company is thieving from my bank account, taking my money without my permission, I am literally being robbed!" This company is actually, blatantly stealing from people! Of course, I try to go to my account through their portal 3 times, with the password they provide... Of course, none of the passwords work, so I can't get in to cancel subscription for the 5th time... The only thing I can think of doing is closing down my PAYPAL account and have my bank issue me a new card with a new number.
This company is the shadiest company that I have ever had to deal with. I am a nurse and a nursing home administrator, an educated person. I take care of my moms PC, sisters PC, and daughters PC... I will never install Avast again and I tell others..."do not use AVAST as the company practices are very unethical!"
