Just sent the New York Attorney General's office and the NY Public Service Commission a message on Energy Plus and was going to follow-up with something to American Airlines and Upromise about the mistake of partnering with these guys.
Absolutely no transparency (try to find anything concrete about pricing on the EP website - this is the B. S. EP says under the section on Rates and Plans: "Each of our products includes an attractive market rate pricing feature. Energy Plus provides customers with extremely competitive rates by sourcing electricity at the lowest price available on the market each day. Because we purchase electricity every day at the best available price, our variable rate offer allows you to take advantage of prices as soon as they drop, unlike fixed rate products.") in pricing and my energy bill doubled after I started using Energy Plus. I think my rate in the last month before I canceled was $. 20/ kWh - that's insanely high. I think Ed was $. 07 for the same time period. And don't believe anything about EP's variable pricing having some low months to balance that out - it's just low relative to $. 20 but still a ton higher than you would normally pay. Shoot, I'll pay more for green energy, but I don't even think EP is green - it's just another supplier.
Then it takes forever to drop the service. What I don't know is whether Ed is artificially inflating it's pricing for delivery to essentially price out other Esco's as a supplier or whether EP is using hidden and variable pricing as a way to just jam consumers. At any rate, instead of lowering my electricity bill, it doubled, so something is very wrong.
